Along with my colleagues, Dr Robin Sefton, and Dr Richard Cooney, I was one of the Founding Directors of Workplace Learning Initiatives Pty. Ltd. in 1995. I became Managing Director of the company in 2001.
Before establishing Workplace Learning Initiatives Pty. Ltd. we worked in the automotive manufacturing industry; conducting action-research, professional development and developing training materials and strategies in the context of industry and award restructuring and change. Prior to that I had experience as a TAFE teacher, coordinator and manager. I also have experience as a researcher; an Australian Volunteer Abroad; a University lecturer and a consultant in positions with local, regional and statewide responsibilities.
I have keen interests in experiential learning, reflective practice and professional development in a range of settings. Adult literacy in various forms and settings is also a continuing research interest. My Ph.D. research was based on case studies investigating these areas.
Qualifications:
-
Bachelor of Arts
- Diploma of Education
- Diploma of Training and Assessment Systems
- Post Graduate Diploma in Educational Studies, with Distinction
- Doctor of Philosophy
I began my working career as a secondary school teacher but after nearly thirty years in adult education I now think of myself as an adult educator, practitioner-researcher, manager and learning consultant.
Gardening, writing poetry, bushwalking, photography and reading engage me when I am not occupied with family and work activities.
